The best part this type of jewelry is the fact that versatile designs are available at simple variations of cost.
If you want to make handmade silver jewelry, first of all you require a lot of persistence and patience. It does not need any previous experience in this field. You can straight away attend the hobby classes to get a feel of the work prior to your job.
It is important to collect few materials in advance. Keep a good silversmith’s manual for reference for every step of your work initially. Another very important thing you require is a propane torch. Protect your eyes whenever you are using the torch.
With the help of the manual select the design for your handmade silver jewelry in advance. Collect the materials according to that. Always keep pickling compound and silver sheet ready to use. The toolbox should contain required tools such as pliers, tongs, solder and a small hammer. Set ready all the things in your worktable, but do not forget to keep a bowl of water.
Read the steps from the manual and mentally prepare yourself to make the jewelry piece. Take silver sheet and cut the desired pattern for making. Pliers and hammer are helpful in giving a proper shape for your jewelry. You need lot of patience in using the tools at the beginning. If you want to add any design or pattern make it on the piece and keep it aside. Heat the solder and attach the design with the main jewelry piece. After the jewelry is completely set, keep it in the warm pickling compound.

Silver is my favorite metal besides white gold. It gives you such a timeless look. I have many silver hoop earrings of different sizes and many more bracelets but it is getting quite expensive. I have always dreamed of making my own jewelry and have been thinking about taking a class at my local rec center. Hopefully one day I’ll be able to create my silver visions.

Out of all the posts I have read about making jewelry, this is the most informative. It was packed full of interesting information. I have not tried my hand at precious metals yet, but armed with your information, I will have a go at it very soon. I never thought about the warm pickling solution. I have not read up on it, but my guess is that it takes the impurities out of the design and acts like a jewelry cleaner? No matter, your information gets an “A” for the easy flow of your instruction. Thanks loads!!!

I love silver. Not only is it beautiful it is actually rarer above ground than gold. Look it up, it’s true. Silver is the best reflector of light, best conductor of heat, and best conductor of electricity. All of this and it is wonderful in so many forms of jewlery.

Do you need a sautering tool for silver? I would love to make my own silver jewelery. I have so many Ideas.

Though silver cannot replace gold jewlery any way but can always be a choice in gemstone jewelry with rare master piece gemstones like Emeralds or Sapphires. Visit Gems Explorer to see yourself
