The best part of hemp jewelry is that if you want to invest cheapest materials in making necklaces, it is very much possible. If otherwise, you can make use of valuable materials for a grand appearance. You may think as to how this is possible? Hemp necklaces are always worn with beads. Select either cheap wooden/glass beads or costly gem stones and white pearls to add the beauty of your jewel piece. Hemp necklaces were the simple ornaments for hippies in 1960s and they became a fashion symbol later. The hemp necklaces that are made with a combination of traditional and modern design are in vogue and widely worn even today. Using the natural tan color of hemp for making a hemp necklace is conventional, but now they are made available in almost all colors. Big wooden beads and glass beads are not being used to decorate the jewel pieces. Precious gems and pearls which were very popular earlier take the backseat.
Hemp necklace instructions help you to choose the color and nature of beads according to your choice. But the basic requirements are the same.
If you intend making a hemp necklace, you would require:
- Hemp twine of desired color
- Beads of desired material
- Scissors
- Glue.
Hemp Necklace Instructions Part 1
Take hemp of length 5 feet 10 inches. If you make the necklace regularly, there is no need to measure the length every time. Just pull it out to the width of both arms and cut it off. You need experience to do this sort of work. Then, take another piece of hemp with of length 2 feet 10 inches. The longest one is for making knots and the shortest one is for threading the beads. Check the beads whether they have big holes in them. It is always better to take longer hemp than required. If the hemp is insufficient then you would be forced to make an addition which in turn renders an ugly look to the necklace. All your hard work would then go in vain!
Hemp Necklace Instructions Part 2
Take the two longest hemp twines and make an over hand knot. Then add the smallest twine and make another over hand knot. Braid altogether for nearly 2 inches. Tie them by over hand knot. Add the beads through the center short twine. If the beads have small holes, take general-purpose glue and carefully spread it over the center twine. Allow it to dry for nearly 30 minutes and then continue the work. If you want to do your work quickly and easily, make the center knot tight. Start doing the half-knot and square knot. Make a spiral design or a flat design. Tie your knots accordingly.
After completing this till the required length with the addition of beads, finish your necklace. Braid all the three twines for nearly two inches. Cut off the center twine. Take the two knotting cords and tie them together with an over hand knot. Cut off the remaining twine. This design would make the necklace look awesome.
